Shortboards
The modern shortboard. A general high performance surfboard for intermediate to advanced and professional surfers. These boards tend to evolve with the judging criteria of professional surfing and are highly influenced by what the current world champion is riding.
The criteria mentions speed, power and flow as desirable requisites. Also progressive surfing. A good board is one that goes fast, transfers from rail to rail seamlessly and has great "surfability" i.e. it recovers from critical manoeuvres ready to go again. To quote Tom Curren (probably poorly but this is what I recall) " Anyone can do one insane manoeuvre, doing more than one is the hard thing".
Rabbidge boards are
all about making turns connect. It is a philosophy as much as
a design trait. Surf the wave not the surfboard. Your mind should do
the surfing and your board just comes with you. That is a great board.
Working with a shaper can get you there. Knowing how you surf and how
you want to surf is half the equation. Then we just have to make it for
you! You do the rest.
